When I’m in writing mode I don’t have room in my head for anything other than my characters. But that doesn’t mean the depression, self-doubt and anxiety disappear, instead they take control of the characters and speak through them. I’ve always liked to imagine my characters as real people who I could have a conversation with to get to know them. Sometimes they crowd around me though and it can be pretty hard to keep going.
This project is run in partnership with Things Dre Makes, and will run for the whole month of May – Mental Health Awareness Month. The idea is to personify a mental illness or difficult emotion you are facing.
