This emotion is a familiar visitor at Christmas and birthdays. It means well. It tries to smile. It meticulously researches every possible present to give before settling on one, and then spends the rest of the celebration analysing whether the gift was of commensurate value to the relevant exchange, represents the relationship in question appropriately, is even liked by the other person, if it shows that the present received in return is all wrong, if the other party is disguising some sort of contempt or giving some kind of hidden message with their contribution.
Gift Dread uses every ploy available to escape opening presents publicly and would rather receive nothing at all. Gift Dread is bilious and shy, and hopes everyone is too drunk to notice.
This project is run in partnership with Things Dre Makes, and will run for the whole month of May – Mental Health Awareness Month. The idea is to personify a mental illness or difficult emotion you are facing.
